Details
Carbenicillin is an antibiotic in the penicillin group of drugs. It fights bacteria in your body. Carbenicillin is used to treat many different types of infections caused by bacteria, such as bladder infection. Before using carbenicillin, tell your doctor if you are allergic to it or if you have asthma kidney disease a bleeding or blood clotting disorder a history of diarrhoea caused by taking antibiotics or a history of any type of allergy. Carbenicillin can make birth control pills less effective, which may result in pregnancy. Before taking carbenicillin, tell your doctor if you use birth control pills.

Side Effects
Some of the serious side effects of carbenicillin include diarrhoea that is watery or bloody fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness urinating less than usual or not at all severe skin rash, itching, or peeling agitation, confusion, unusual thoughts or behaviour or seizure (black-out or convulsions).
Drug Interactions
- Carbenicillin+methotrexate- Talk to your doctor before using methotrexate together with carbenicillin. Medications like carbenicillin, especially when given at high dosages for serious infections, can sometimes increase the blood levels and effects of methotrexate. You may have increased side effects such as nausea, vomiting, mouth ulcers, and low blood cell counts, which can make you more likely to develop anaemia, bleeding problems, and infections.
Mechanism of action
Carbazochrome belongs to a class of drugs called haemostatics. It reduces blood loss from fragile capillaries (thin blood vessels) by improving the stability of the capillary walls thereby controlling bleeding.
