Drug Interactions
• Ergotamine+almotriptan- Using almotriptan together with ergotamine is not recommended. Combining these medications may have additive effects and cause excessive narrowing of blood vessels in the body. This can reduce blood flow to vital organs and increase the risk of rare but serious side effects such as high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, and gangrene.
• Ergotamine+boceprevir- Using ergotamine together with boceprevir is not recommended. Combining these medications may significantly increase the blood levels and effects of ergotamine, which in some cases can lead to excessive narrowing of blood vessels in the body. This can reduce blood flow to vital organs and increase the risk of rare but serious side effects such as high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, and gangrene.
• Ergotamine+citalopram- Using ergotamine together with citalopram can increase the risk of a rare but serious condition called the serotonin syndrome, which may include symptoms such as confusion, hallucination, seizure, extreme changes in blood pressure, increased heart rate, fever, excessive sweating, shivering or shaking, blurred vision, muscle spasm or stiffness, tremor, stomach cramp, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea. Severe cases may result in coma and even death.
• Ergotamine+efavirenz- Using ergotamine together with efavirenz is not recommended.
