Diethylstilbestrol, a potent synthetic form of estrogen, is prescribed for the treatment of advanced form of testosterone-sensitive prostate cancer and for the treatment of menopausal atrophic vaginitis. Diethylstilbestrol is also prescribed as a palliative treatment of malignant breast cancer in postmenopausal women.
