Botulinum toxin type A, also called as Onabotulinumtoxin A, is indicated for the treatment of cervical dystonia, hyperhidrosis, overactive bladder, eyelid spasms and moderate form of muscular spasms in hands and arms. Botulinum toxin type A is also prescribed for the prophylaxis of chronic migraine headache in adults with recurrence. In cosmetic medicine, Botulinum toxin type A is used to reduce the facial wrinkles. However, the effects are temporary.
