Benfotiamine a supplement that is a lipid soluble derivative of thiamine (also known as vitamin B-1). It can be found naturally in foods in very small amounts of roasted, crushed garlic and other vegetables such as onions, shallots, and leeks. When taken as a supplement, Benfotiamine is usually given in an oral form and is prescribed for Beri Beri, Wenicke-korsakoff syndrome, diabetic neuropathy. Benfotiamine is commonly taken at the oral dose of 300-600 mg over the course of the day, usually in two divided doses with meals.

Low thiamine levels are linked to a range of health problems, including nerve and heart disorders. Since thiamine may not be efficiently absorbed by the body, some people use benfotiamine to increase their thiamine levels and manage certain health conditions.
