Details
Mupirocin is an antibiotic that treats or prevents infection caused by bacteria. Mupirocin nasal (for the nose) is used to treat bacteria in the nostrils of patients and healthcare workers during an outbreak of severe staph infection within a hospital or other medical setting. This can help prevent the growth of staph bacteria in patients with a high risk of infection. Mupirocin nasal is usually given for 5 days. Do not use other nasal medications during treatment with mupirocin nasal unless your doctor tells you to.

Mupirocin is used to temporarily get rid of certain bacteria in the nose. This treatment is part of a program that lowers the risk of infection. Mupirocin is an antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of certain bacteria.
Side Effects
Stop using mupirocin nasal and notify your doctor immediately if you have a serious side effect such as nosebleed or severe burning or stinging of your nose. Less serious mupirocin side effects may include dryness or unpleasant taste in your mouth headache ear pain runny or stuffy nose nausea, diarrhoea itching, mild skin rash cough or sore throat.

At present, there are no known drug interactions for mupirocin topical.

Mupirocin is an antibiotic that works by stopping the growth of certain bacteria (such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogens) by blocking the protein synthesis.
