Details

Griseofulvin is an antifungal medication that fights infections caused by fungus. Griseofulvin is used to treat infections such as ringworm, athlete's foot, jock itch, and fungal infections of the scalp, fingernails, or toenails. To make sure griseofulvin is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have liver disease lupus an allergy to penicillin or if you take a blood thinner such as warfarin. Taking griseofulvin during the first trimester of pregnancy can harm the unborn baby. Griseofulvin may make birth control pills less effective. Ask your doctor about using non hormonal birth control (condom, diaphragm with spermicide) to prevent pregnancy while taking griseofulvin. Griseofulvin should not be given to a child younger than 2 years old.
